The Sequim School District, which includes Gardiner, will take public comment tonight regarding its use of funds available through a statewide ballot initiative.
Initiative 728, passed in 2000, earmarked monies from lottery ticket sales and property tax assessments toward student achievement.
The Sequim district has leftover monies from past years, and wants to hear from district residents and parents of children in Sequim schools on how to prioritize the spending of those dollars.
The public comment session is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the library at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.
Areas of eligibility include reduction of class sizes, extended learning opportunities, professional development for educators, early childhood programs and improvements to school buildings.
