Sequim: RV destroyed in early morning fire

An unoccupied 36-foot recreational vehicle was destroyed by fire early Thursday on Big Foot Lane, off West Sequim Bay Road in Sequim.

Clallam County Fire District No. 3 Chief Steve Vogel said the Beaver RV, owned by Ronald Cole was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived shortly before 7 a.m.

Firefighters from the Sequim, Carlsborg and Dungeness stations helped extinguish the blaze and were on the scene for about two hours.

“There’s nothing left but the shell,” Vogel said.

The cause of the fire might have been electrical, according to Vogel, who said a small heater placed on a countertop was being used to keep the RV dry.

Cole’s home, 30 feet away from where the RV was parked, wasn’t damaged.
