SEQUIM: Port Angeles collie earns blue ribbon

Diane Weaver’s border collie, Cassie, jumped and weaved her way to first-place performances Saturday and Sunday during the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club’s Agility Trials in Sequim.

The Port Angeles canine posted a blazing time of 29.31 seconds in the open class jumps and weaves event on Saturday.

Although she was much slower at 47.51 seconds on Sunday, Cassie had another clean run to earn 100 points and the blue ribbon.

More than 190 American Kennel Club-bred dogs made runs during the two days of competition on Blake family property, just south of Carrie Blake Park.

Dogs and handlers from as far away as Las Vegas, Nev., and Sodotka, Alaska, traveled to Sequim to compete.
