Sequim: Police make drug raid

SEQUIM — Police officers arrested two people Wednesday night in a planned raid on a West Alder Street home.

Officers arrested John Stayton, 49, for investigation into four counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

They also arrested 26-year-old Theresa Riley of Sequim for investigation of possession of methamphetamines and hallucinogens.

Both were booked into Clallam County jail.

Stayton, who rents the home at 484 W. Alder St., has prior felony convictions and has had violent encounters with law enforcement officers in the past, police Sgt. Sean Madison said.

Madison spent several weeks building a case against Stayton based on drug sales to police operatives, he said.

Stayton allegedly sold drugs to undercover officers on four occasions.

Wednesday’s three-hour raid, conducted by nine Sequim officers, an officer from the state Department of Corrections, and Sequim Police Department’s trained dog, Huey, uncovered small amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
