SEQUIM — Twenty-three Sequim Middle School students are checking facts and verifying sources as they prepare their entries for the state history contest May 3-4 in Ellensburg.
History teacher Tricia Billes said the contingent is the largest number of Sequim students ever to qualify for the state competition.
The 23 were among 100 Sequim students to compete in the regional contest at Olympic Community College in Bremerton in March.
“They kept saying ‘Sequim,”‘ Billes said of the awards ceremony at the regional contest. “It was very cool.”
