Sequim man in Seattle hospital after Wednesday wreck

Correction — The name of the Sequim man airlifted to Harborview Medical Center has been corrected.

PORT TOWNSEND — A Sequim man was taken to a Seattle hospital late Wednesday afternoon after a two-car wreck at the intersection of state Highway 20 and Four Corners Road.

Lawrence M. Alan, 55, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the 4:02 p.m. wreck, the State Patrol said.

His condition was not available Wednesday night.

Roger A. Collin, 68, and Beverly A. Collin, 62, of Portland, Ore., were taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital as a precaution, the State Patrol said.

The State Patrol gave this account:

Alan, the lone occupant of a 1997 Buick, was driving westbound on state Highway 20 when he turned left onto Four Corners Road.

The Collins 2008 GMC Envoy was traveling eastbound on Four Corners Road.

The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation and charges may be pending, the State Patrol said.

A detour was in place from 4:18 p.m. to 5:33 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.

A passing state Department of Transportation road crew provided traffic direction while firefighters from East Jefferson Fire-Rescue and Jefferson County Fire District 5 provided medical care, sad Bill Beezley, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman.
