POULSBO — A Sequim resident was treated and discharged from Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton on Wednesday after his car was destroyed in a 10:09 a.m. wreck.
The State Patrol said Harry D. Bassett, 69, of Sequim was hurt after he ran a red light while driving a white 1993 Mazda MX6 westbound on state Highway 104 approaching state Highway 307 near Bremerton.
Edward Agius, 61, of Bremerton was driving a white 2012 Nissan NV passenger van northbound on state Highway 307, turning onto eastbound state Highway 104.
The Mazda collided with the Nissan.
Bassett was cited for failure to stop for a red traffic signal, the State Patrol said.
Bassett was in the process of being discharged from the Bremerton hospital late Wednesday afternoon, according to Harrison spokeswoman Jacquie Goodwill.
Agius was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the State Patrol.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was thought to have contributed to the wreck, according to the report.
The Mazda was destroyed, the State Patrol said, adding that the van, although damaged, was driven from the scene.
