SEQUIM — A Sequim resident was arrested early Monday morning after leading a sheriff’s deputy on a 5-mile chase with a motorcycle that had been reported stolen.
Shawn Mackey, 40, was chased at up to 60 miles an hour before he was arrested after running the motorcycle into a ditch, Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict said Monday.
Mackey, who was not injured, was incarcerated in the Clallam County jail Monday morning without bond on investigation of eluding a police vehicle and a pay-or-appear warrant.
The pursuit started at Spath Road off Carlsborg Road at about 3 a.m. Monday and ended at Olson and Hooker roads after a deputy tried to stop Mackey on suspicion of possessing a stolen motorcycle.
The motorcycle had been reported stolen, recovered and stolen again, Benedict said.
