Sequim Irrigation Festival celebrates Grand Finale Weekend

SEQUIM — Following a smooth first weekend, organizers of the 123rd Sequim Irrigation Festival plan to finish with a Grand Finale.

Events run through Sunday. The operetta “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” continued beginning Thursday through Saturday while the Sequim Museum & Arts hosted a walking tour downtown Thursday morning.

More events kick off today with the Logging Show opening up at 10 a.m. for its 30th year followed by a Strongman Showdown at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on the Blake Avenue lot, which is south of Carrie Blake Park at 202 N. Blake Ave.

Sunland Golf & Country Club hosts the festival’s tournament at noon today. Check to see if spots are still available by contacting Janet Gray at 360-683-8095 or jgray@bgc-op.org or by going online to www.bgc-op.org under the “events” tab.

The Hot Rods and Harleys Show ‘n’ Cruzz drives into its 15th year with staging for the cruise along Washington Street beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, at Evergreen Collision, 703 E. Washington St., and the parade starts at 10:45 a.m. heading towards Sequim Walmart, 1110 W. Washington St.

Registration for the show begins at 9 a.m. outside the store with awards at 4 p.m. It costs $20 to register for both events the day of the show or $15 if attendees register by 2 p.m. today with Randy Perry at Sequim Shoe Repair, 425 E. Washington St., Suite 5.

The festival’s Fun Run on Saturday added a 1-mile walk that happens at the same time as the 5k, which starts at 10 a.m. with registration at 8:30 a.m. in the JCPenney parking lot at 651 W. Washington St. The run follows the festival’s Grand Parade route along Washington Street. Cost is $30. For more information or to register, call 360-582-7039 or email get_results_cpt@yahoo.com.

Wristbands for unlimited rides at the carnival, which runs through Sunday at Sequim High School’s athletic fields along Fir Street, are $27.

One of the most well-attended events, the Grand Parade, features more than 100 entries with dignitaries, royalty, businesses and much strolling along Washington Street starting at noon on Saturday.
