Sequim: Girls win first fastpitch divisional game

PORTLAND — The Sequim Junior Little League fastpitch team just keeps rolling.

Despite losing one of its team members to tragedy last week, Sequim — representing Washington — defeated host team Oregon 4-1 in the first round of the divisional championships Saturday afternoon at the Mount Hood Little League fields.

Sequim next plays the winner between Alaska and Idaho, which played a late game Saturday, in the winner’s bracket today at 6 p.m.

“We’re playing awesome,” said Sequim coach Lorie Forshaw.

Four teams are in the double-elimination tournament. Only the champion advances to the regional championships.
