SEQUIM — A cougar attacked and wounded a pig off of West Sequim Bay Road last weekend, inflicting injuries so severe, the animal had to be euthanized, authorities said Tuesday.
There have been several reported cougar attacks and sightings on the North Olympic Peninsula in the past year.
State Department of Fish and Wildlife Officer Paul Mosman said the attack is thought to have taken place when its owner, Gary Thompson, was not at home.
Neighbors in the 900 block of West Sequim Bay Road reported hearing pigs squealing between 6 and 7 p.m. Sunday.
