SEQUIM — The city will phase in purchasing holiday decorations for new light posts which will dot the landscape along its main arterial next Christmas, instead of forking out $30,000 to replace its old adornments all at once.
The City Council was asked last week by representatives from the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce to come up with a plan to replace decorations that will not fit on new light posts being installed as part of a major downtown renovation project.
Council members hesitated to spend out that much money at once, but agreed that holiday decorations are an important part of supporting downtown businesses during their busiest shopping season.
