SEQUIM — Three 14-year-old boys could face charges in juvenile court after Sequim Middle School officials found five knives and an air-powered pellet pistol in lockers on campus Friday morning.
“There was never a threat to any students,” Principal Mark Willis said Tuesday afternoon, noting the campus was not locked down when school officials were notified of the weapons.
“If there’s even a hint of a threat, you go into lockdown,” Willis said. “There was no threat; we had some kids make a really bad choice.”
According to Willis, the three boys’ lockers were searched after school officials received reports from other students who had been shown the weapons.
The three students, whose names were not released, were placed on emergency expulsion, he said. Emergency expulsion prohibits them from attending school while officials determine punishment.
The students were released to their parents after being questioned by police.
