SEQUIM — A Sequim area man was arrested for investigation of arson after a detached garage on his property caught fire Monday morning.
Richard Louda Sr., 78, was booked into the Clallam County jail on investigation of second-degree arson and was still in custody Monday evening.
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 responded to the fire at about 9:05 a.m. Monday morning at 2522 Taylor Cutoff Road, south of Sequim.
About 13 firefighters put out the blaze after about an hour.
About $10,000 in damage was done to the structure and contents, but structural damage was minor, Assistant Chief Roger Moeder said.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputies Andrew Wagner and Ken Oien determined that the fire had been started by a fuel and a match.
Louda, who lives at the residence, was then arrested but has not been formally charged.
