Sequim: 10 farms open to public for Harvest Celebration on Saturday

SEQUIM — From petting zoos to pony rides, corn on the cob to blackberry cobbler, 10 farms in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley will open to visitors Saturday for the fifth annual Clallam County Harvest Celebration Farm Tour.

A variety of tours, activities for kids, demonstrations, food and music will be offered at the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

“We’re trying to get kids out to the farm,” said David Nistler, event coordinator for WSU Cooperative Extension, which is running the program along with nonprofit Sequim Valley Friends of the Fields.

“In the Sequim-Dungeness area, the farmland is dissappearing quite rapidly, and this is about connecting kids and parents to the farm,” Nistler said. “It’s a fun thing.”

Admission to the tour is by donation and can be made at any of the participating farms.

On Sunday, a Harvest Celebration Dinner will be held at 4 p.m. in the Sequim High School cafeteria.
