Second half of year’s property taxes due Nov. 2

PORT ANGELES — North Olympic Peninsula property owners have until Nov. 2 to pay the second half of the year’s property taxes.

The deadline is Oct. 31, but since that date falls on a Saturday, property owners in Clallam and Jefferson counties are being given a grace period until the next working day.

Property tax payments must be postmarked or dropped off at the treasurer’s offices at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, or the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.

Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays in Clallam County and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays in Jefferson County.

Mail dropped in a U.S. Postal Service mailbox after postal pickup time may result in a postmark of Nov. 3, which will be considered delinquent.

Clallam County

Parking is limited at the Clallam County Courthouse parking lot because of construction.

The drop box in the drive-through circle is accessible in front of the courthouse on Fourth Street.

Taxpayers who require receipts can include self-addressed, stamped envelopes and the treasurer’s office will mail them.

The treasurer’s office can accept most credit and debit cards, either at the office counter or online at www.clallam.net/Treasurer.

A convenience fee will be charged by the credit or debit card provider.

To access property tax information online, select “Property Search” in the left-hand column on the home page at www.clallam.net.

For more information about property taxes or assessments in Clallam County, phone the treasurer’s office at 360-417-2344.

Jefferson County

Five Jefferson County drop boxes are available for payment by check. They are in the rear parking lot of the courthouse, at the Port Townsend and Port Hadlock branches of Bank of America, at the Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank and at the Quilcene U.S. Bank.

Credit card payments may be made online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/treasurer or toll-free by phone at 877-812-8072.

Instructions for both are on the back of the tax statement, and a 2.5 percent fee is charged by the service provider for credit card payments.

Electronic checks can now be used to make payments.

Visit the Jefferson County treasurer’s Web page for instructions and fee amounts.

For more information in Jefferson County, phone 360-385-9150.
