PORT ANGELES — When a Level III sex offender moved into a Port Angeles RV park earlier this month, the park’s owners felt they were giving the 20-year-old a second chance.
Less than two weeks later, Vasis Anthony Turner has escaped from community supervision, and corrections officers fear the highest-level sex offender will commit more sex crimes.
“We were just trying to be a help to somebody that needed help,” Kent Arney, owner of Arney’s Dam RV Park, 47 Lower Dam Road, near the Elwha Dam, said Friday.
Corrections officers and police are searching areas in Port Angeles and Joyce for Turner, who was designated an escapee when he did not make contact with the Department of Corrections officers Wednesday morning.
