SEQUIM — The Save Our Sequim group is hosting a rally starting at noon on Saturday with the goal of having 250 people lining West Washington Street, from Ninth Avenue toward downtown Sequim.
The demonstration of the peaceful rally, organizers say, is to represent 250 addicts to be served at a planned medication-assisted treatment (MAT) clinic in Sequim.
The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, which is building the facility, said it eventually hopes to treat about 250 patients.
SOS organizers said the rally is intended as an educational event “about the unwise idea” of such a clinic “and the lack of need for one here in Sequim and the poor location for the public due to experiences and advice from other small cities that have experienced this also.”
Registration is by email to welovesequim@gmail.com. The first 100 registrations get a free T-shirt, Valentine’s Day rock or a kazoo. Parking is along city streets.
The event will be held rain or shine, save for a blizzard with wind, organizers said.
