QUILCENE — A man fatally shot by Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies Monday had worked at a Center Valley Road woodworking business for several weeks.
Then he returned to his former workplace to steal a pickup truck and firearms just prior to the Monday shooting, police said Tuesday.
John Edward Buckendorf, 36, was shot to death by deputies following an on-again, off-again high-speed chase Monday in southern Kitsap County.
Buckendorf, described by authorities as a transient whose last listed address was in Raymond, had stolen the pickup and eight firearms from the owner of Center Valley Woodworks earlier in the day before leading authorities on the chase.
