OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST — That smoke you see might be from a fire set intentionally.
Olympic National Forest will conduct prescribed burns in the forest throughout the next month to six weeks, it announced Tuesday.
Prescribed burns are planned in Clallam and Grays Harbor counties.
In Clallam County, burns will be set at specific points off forest service roads. The roads are 2900, 2932, 3000 and 2900-950.
Prescribed burns are intended to reduce logging slash, which is potentially fuel for forest fires.
The burns are managed and are done when weather conditions are favorable, forest officials said.
Smoke might be noticed in adjacent areas, especially at night and early morning, the forest service said.
