PREP FOOTBALL UPDATE — Neah Bay demolishes Twin Valley 74-12 to advance to state semifinals

BREMERTON — Defending state champion Neah Bay rolled to a 74-12 victory over Twin Valley in the state quarterfinals Saturday at Silverdale Stadium.

The decisive win gives the Red Devils (11-0) a third straight Class 1B semifinal matchup with Northwest Football League rival Lummi at 4 p.m. next Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Neah Bay was much improved defensively from last week’s 78-30 opening round triumph over Pateros.

The Red Devils yielded just 132 offensive yards to the Wolfpack, including holding Twin Valley to minus-16 yards rushing on 25 attempts.

Neah Bay sophomore Cole Svec scored rushing touchdowns on his first three touches of the game, gains of 15, 86 and 42 yards. He finished with 6 carries for 173 yards, and added an 82-yard kickoff return for a score in the second half.

Rwehabura Munyagi Jr. was 2 of 4 passing for two scores, a 64-yard touchdown pass to John Reamer and a 32-yard pass to Cameron Buzzell, both in the first half as Neah Bay built a 46-0 halftime lead.

Now it’s on to another matchup with Lummi, the two squads’ third matchup this season. Neah Bay has won both games, 38-26 at home in week two and a 50-38 road win in week seven.

Lummi (10-3) defeated Lopez 60-14 in Friday’s other west-side quarterfinal matchup.

The eastside semifinal features Liberty Christian (12-0) and Republic (12-1).
