Pregnant woman, baby OK after collision

CHIMACUM — A pregnant woman involved in a collision was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Healthcare hospital, but both she and the unborn baby were uninjured, according to the State Patrol.

The collision briefly blocked both directions of state Highway 19 just north of HJ Carroll County Park about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Carmen Chavez was transported to the hospital as a precaution, Trooper Mark Hodgson said.

He had no other information about the wreck.

“She was received in our emergency department and went through a thorough evaluation,” said Amy Yaley, director of marketing and communications for Jefferson Healthcare.

Chavez later was discharged, Yaley said.
