JOYCE — The water is running again but a “precautionary” boil water order was issued Wednesday for Crescent Water Association customers until further notice.
The water association serves 867 connections in the Joyce area.
Those customers lost water service when a water plant generator providing backup power to the filtration system at the association’s water plant burned out an alternator on Tuesday.
“It was caused by a mechanical malfunction on a generator at the filtration facility. We’ve been on generators since Sunday,” said Crescent Water Association Manager Robert Beauvais.
The water plant had lost power Sunday when Clallam County Public Utility District service to the Joyce area went out.
A rented generator from Seattle is in use until replacement parts arrive.
“We experienced a severe loss in water pressure. So we’re issuing a precautionary alert until we get the results from our water quality samples the first part of next week,” Beauvais said.
