PORT TOWNSEND — A new post office substation has opened in the Purple Heron, a boutique gift shop at 1117 Water St. in downtown Port Townsend.
The Purple Heron offers all postal services with the exception of P.O. boxes and money orders.
“We have access to our store for the disabled people in the community,” said Purple Heron partners Christine Lorecki and Glenda Meek in a statement.
Hours of operation for the substation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The telephone number is 360-385-2868.
Port Townsend Postmaster Cindy Bryant is pleased to have the new postal substation up and running.
“I am very glad to have this added place for mailing services in the city,” Bryant said.
“Not only will disabled customers have easier access, the Purple Heron is open on Saturdays for added convenience.”
The Purple Heron will hold an official grand opening for the substation in mid-September.
