The two teenagers accused of starting the Aug. 4 Aldrich’s market blaze are scheduled for their initial appearance in Jefferson County Juvenile Court at 8:30 a.m. today.
The girl, a Port Townsend resident, and the Bremerton boy are charged with reckless burning. Both are 14 and unidentified because of their age.
Prosecutors allege that they ignited cardboard and other recyclables in a bin next to the 114-year-old store at 940 Lawrence St., Port Townsend. The youths said they believed the flames were out when they left the scene.
The fire destroyed the building, causing more than $1 million in damage.
