Port Townsend city officials have closed a stretch of 12th Street between Kuhn Street and East Sims Way for daytime roadwork that began Monday.
The city Public Works Department estimated that construction on road improvements in the Kah Tai Lagoon area will last for two weeks.
Workers are repaving a portion of 12th Street behind the Henery Do It Best Hardware store at 218 Sims Way.
The $87,198 project replaces the old asphalt and creates two travel lanes and one parking lane.
City officials said they expect to keep the street closed during working hours.
