2:45 p.m., Kiddie Parade, sponsored by Port Townsend Kiwanis Club. Meet at Monroe and Water streets; judging is at 3:10; parade begins at 3:30.

3 p.m., Carnival Opens, Memorial Field, downtown

5 to 8 p.m., Kiwanis Fish Fry, American Legion

6 p.m., Bed Race, sponsored by First American Title. Meet at Washington and Adams streets. Races begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.

A repair crew performs work on the observation tower at the end of Port Angeles City Pier on Wednesday as part of a project to repair structural deficiencies in the tower, which has been closed to the public since November. The work, being performed by Aberdeen-based Rognlin’s Inc., includes replacement of bottom supports and wood decking, paint removal and repainting of the structure.
