PORT TOWNSEND: Rhododendron Festival awards announced

PORT TOWNSEND — Rhododendron Festival organizers announced the winners of the Pet Parade and the Kiddie Parade on Saturday after the Grand Parade.

Grand Parade results were unavailable Saturday.

Lisa and Sienna Fink were awarded the best overall decorated pet award for their cat, Bongo, in the Pet Parade. Their theme was “Jungle Beat.”‘

Helen Gunn and Group were awarded a special recognition for “What is black and white and read all over.”

In the Pet Parade, it turned out to be people in black-spotted dog costumes.

Kiddie Parade

In the Kiddie Parade, the best overall decorated float award went to “The Bees” by Tanner, Tristan and Tricia Minnihan. Bage Hensley and Kiley Magg won the best float award for their “Swing Time Kids” float.

Other top awards went to Makayla Such, bikes and trikes; Valley View Preschool’s Rockin’ Robbins, preschool groups; Cassie Earl, pretend entry; Swan School, most unusual entry; Cedar Brook Adventist Christian School, circus and clowns; Matthew and Austin Widmer’s The Swiss Boys, other nations entry; David and Dylan Glossing, “Rock and Roll” by Tanner and Ricky Kranz, and Hunter, Kenya, Anna and Stephanie Peterson, brothers and sisters; Melanie, Makayla, McKenzie and Jordan Bentz’s Cruella and the Dalmation Puppies, storybook and cartoon entry; Myles Kelety, monsters and beasts; vegetable farmers Kimberly Headley, Nicholas Hamon and Stevi Manthe, western; Penny Pinchers of Quimper Community Credit Union Kids’ Club, marching groups; and Jordyn Little and Shae Dupuy, dance and gym.
