PORT TOWNSEND — Port commissioners on Monday got their first taste of public comment about razing buildings at Point Hudson.
James Fritz, a Crutcher Road resident, said he supports demolitions at the former military quarantine site and immigration station.
“I object to this place remaining, frankly,” he said. “It was built fast and it was built cheap.”
“It needs to go where it belongs: to a toxic waste dump.”
The 69-year-old buildings’ future weren’t the main issue for Nancy Dorgan of Port Townsend.
She questioned whether the Port properly informed the public of a Dec. 19 meeting during which Port commissioners decided to apply for city demolition permits covering nearly all buildings at Point Hudson.
Peninsula Daily News records show that the Port gave notice two days before the meeting, in compliance with state law.
