PORT TOWNSEND — The Northwest Maritime Center has received another large donation — this time from the family of a prominent Port Townsend figure in the early 20th century.
The descendants of marine industrialist and maritime historian Horace Winslow McCurdy pledged $150,000 toward the Maritime Center campaign, the organization announced Tuesday.
The donation brings the total raised for the project to $5.3 million out of a $10.1 million goal.
“The development of the Northwest Maritime Center is a wonderful opportunity for our family to recognize our own maritime heritage,” said Neil McCurdy, grandson of Horace, better known simply as H.W.
