Port Townsend Main Street starts quarterly pub crawl to amp up Monday nights

PORT TOWNSEND — The Main Street Program has started a new initiative designed to promote Port Townsend bars and restaurants by holding a quarterly pub crawl where attendees can enjoy drink and food specials and increase their social time.

“We want to give people something to do on Monday nights, to go out and have a good time,” said Main Street Assistant Director Dawn Pierson.

“This is something brand new.”

The first pub crawl will get a boost from a holiday that is often paired with alcoholic intake. It will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day.

Tickets for the pub crawl cost $10 each and include a special souvenir glass and a wristband that entitles them to drink and food specials at each location.

They are on sale now at all of the locations that will host the event.

The participating restaurants are The Belmont, 925 Water St.; Cellar Door, 940 Water St.; Doc’s Marina Grill, 141 Hudson St.; Middletown Dreams Pinbar, 21 Taylor St.; The Public House, 823 Water St.; Sirens, 823 Water St.; Uptown Pub, 1016 Lawrence St.; and Fins Coastal Cuisine, 1019 Water St.

Main Street will sponsor one pub crawl every season, all with the stated purpose of stimulating the town’s Monday night social life.

But the pub crawl is not all about drinking, Pierson said.

Its purpose is for people to have another opportunity to socialize.

Furthermore, each of the eight participating restaurants are offering a designated driver special, from free sodas to specially made discounted non-alcoholic beverages.

Pierson said that 160 souvenir glasses were purchased.

Glasses left over will be used at future events.
