PORT TOWNSEND — Three Port Townsend High School musicians participated in a state competition last month.
Tusker Behrenfeld, Maya Dow and Kincaid Gould attended the state solo and ensemble competition in Ellensburg on April 27.
Behrenfeld, a violist in the school orchestra, and Dow, a trumpet player in the school band, are freshmen. Gould, a clarinet player, is a junior.
The three qualified for the state competition after they received high scores at the district competition in Port Angeles in their respective categories.
Gould also was named to the all-Northwest band, an event held in January in Portland, Ore. He was selected from a field of clarinet players from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Montana.
