Ground breaking will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. for a new $6 million multipurpose dining hall at Fort Worden State Park.
The dining hall, scheduled to be completed in June 2003, will feature four banquet rooms that can accommodate up to 670 people.
The planned 18,000-square-foot building also constitutes the largest single project in Washington State Parks’ 2001-2003 capital budget. Fort Worden officials say the building is the key to park’s future as a conference center.
Drury Construction Co. of Poulsbo is general contractor for the job.
