PORT TOWNSEND — Sales at the uptown farmers market lead all farmers markets across the North Olympic Peninsula and beyond, a WSU Extension official reports.
“We are the highest grossing market on the Peninsula and west of Seattle,” said Harvindar Singh, Port Townsend Farmers Market food and farm coordinator through Washington State University Extension Jefferson County.
Singh made the comment during his annual farmers market progress report to about 50 vendors and other market supporters attending a meeting last week at the Port Townsend Community Center.
Singh said although his comparison figures are from 2003, he expected the trend to read the same for this year.
For 2004, Singh reported the Port Townsend Farmers Market’s total gross sales on Saturday and Wednesday totaled $365,658.65. That compares with $300,342.37 in 2003.
