PORT TOWNSEND — The long-awaited cleanup of a former oil company depot near Point Hudson has taken a big leap forward.
Wyser Construction of Everett is the low bidder for the cleanup of the Northwest Maritime Center property at the end of Water Street.
Ten companies bid on the cleanup of the former fuel depot. Their bids have yet to be evaluated.
Bids ranged from a high of $297,924 from Kleen Corp. of Seattle to Wyser’s low bid of $109,431.
Under the bid specifications, the company which is awarded the bid will raze six of seven buildings and excavate 700 yards of contaminated soil from the site, formerly owned by Thomas Oil Co.
