Port Townsend Energy Lunch this Thursday to focus on solar

PORT TOWNSEND — A regional sales manager for a solar company in Bellingham will speak at Energy Lunch in Port Townsend on Thursday.

Jesse Wear will discuss “Solarizing Jefferson County: How a Nearby Manufacturer Can Help” at the lunch at 12:30 p.m. at the Port Townsend Yacht Club, 2503 Washington St., said Rick Van Auken, programming coordinator.

Participants in the Energy Lunch, held the third Thursday of each month, are urged to bring their own lunches at noon and join an informal conversation with energy professionals.

This month’s talk will deal with topics relating to community-scale solar energy development, Van Auken said.

“Local development of community-scale solar energy contributes to local prosperity, de-carbonizes the energy supply and provides local resilience against natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis and against external energy shocks that can dramatically increase local energy prices and/or restrict local energy supplies,” Van Auken said.

The presentation “will be of great significance to all those in Jefferson County who are interested in taking the local development of solar energy to the next level,” he said.
