PORT TOWNSEND — A Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy has been recognized as a hero for his actions at a murder scene earlier this year.
Deputy Hyram Godsey has been named Olympic Peninsula Hero for 2003 by the Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the American Red Cross for his actions.
Godsey was the first to arrive at a Port Hadlock towing company after the owner, Frank “Skip” Smith, had been fatally shot April 29.
