PORT TOWNSEND — City Council members want a code of ethics stricter than a proposed ordinance drafted by City Attorney John Watts.
Councilman Allen Frank said during Monday night’s meeting that he wants to see the “bar set higher,” particularly for City Council members.
He received unanimous support from the other five council members in attendance, including new Councilwoman Catharine Robinson.
The code of ethics would provide guidelines for elected officials and government employees as well as establish a means of addressing complaints.
Port Townsend currently doesn’t have a codified set of ethics guidelines.
