PORT TOWNSEND — Representatives of Grace Lutheran Church recently presented a check for $7,295 to the Port Townsend Senior Saturday Food Bank and its director, Shirley Moss.
The church raised roughly half the funds through a fundraising drive at the church, and the remainder came from matching funds from Thrivent Financial.
Thrivent Financial, formerly Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, is a “financial services organization that helps Christians be wise with money and live generously.”
Presenting the check were Jim Hladecek, Grace Lutheran Congregation president; Neil Potthoff, Grace Lutheran Thrivent advocate; Tom Larsen, Grace Lutheran Thrivent board member; and Coe Hutchison, Grace Lutheran pastor.
“We are so pleased to be able to support the Senior Saturday Food Bank,” Hladecek said. “This will provide much-needed assistance to eligible seniors.”
Food bank director Shirley Moss added, “This gift will allow us to purchase fresh produce during the winter months that otherwise might not be available. This is great for our seniors.”
The Senior Saturday Food Bank, located in Mountain View Commons, 1925 Blaine St., serves seniors older than 65 and is open every Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
