From the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office today (Saturday, Oct. 26):
“On Thursday (Oct. 24), the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a report that an 18-year-old female had that morning been admitted to the Jefferson Healthcare Hospital suffering from a methamphetamine overdose.
“The subsequent investigation revealed that a 28-year-old Port Townsend area male was suspected of having injected her with methamphetamine on three different occasions within the last week and had provided her instruction how to safely inject methamphetamine using a YouTube video demonstration.
“On Friday evening (Oct. 25), deputies arrested the suspect, Derrick A. Jevne, and booked him into the JCSO Jail [for investigation of] delivery of a controlled substance and reckless endangerment.
“A search warrant was executed on Jevne’s home Saturday morning (Oct. 26) where deputies recovered drug paraphernalia and approximately 4.06 ounces (.25 pounds; 115.5 grams) of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $4,000.
“Sheriff Tony Hernandez stated that he is very proud of the outstanding work done by patrol deputies and detectives on this case, serving as a great example of their dedication to following through and tenacity.”
