Port of Port Townsend officials may need to apply for state money to get rid of a derelict boat.
Port Executive Director Larry Crockett said the Noi’i, a former U.S. Army patrol boat, had to be pulled out of the Boat Haven Marina on Sunday because it was sinking.
Crockett said the owner, whom he didn’t identify, will be billed for haulout charges and wastewater disposal.
If he balks, the Port could be stuck with disposing of the 80-foot wooden vessel.
If so, the Port can apply for matching funds from the Department of Ecology’s Toxics Control Account.
