PORT TOWNSEND — City and Port officials will hold off on making any demolition-related plans for Point Hudson for at least 90 days.
Following a joint tour of Point Hudson’s aging buildings Monday, elected officials from the city of Port Townsend and Port of Port Townsend agreed to meet again within three weeks to discuss the point’s future.
As a part of the agreement, the City Council immediately rescinded the first reading of a moratorium ordinance that would prevent demolition permits in Port Townsend’s historic districts.
Port commissioners vowed to call off a pre-application conference they had with the city Building and Community Development Office.
A draft ordinance, which would replace a current city law regulating demolitions in historic districts, will be kept on ice in the city’s Historic Preservation Committee for 90 days.
