PORT ANGELES — The Port has received a $100,000 federal grant to assess homeland security needs, a process necessary for the Port to continue operations beyond July 1, 2004.
“We were notified our grant application was approved,” said Port Executive Director Clyde Boddy.
The $100,000 grant was part of $170 million awarded nationwide, including $22.2 million in Washington state.
The Port Security Grant Program funds planning and projects to improve dockside and perimeter security at ports.
In 2002, $92 million was awarded to ensure security at ports, but Port Angeles was left off the list.
