The Port of Port Angeles’ 2005 property tax rate will barely increase in 2005, although the amount collected will increase because of new construction.
The Port’s 2005 property tax rate Clallam County-wide is estimated at 23.45 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation, or $35.17 for the owner of a $150,000 home.
The 2004 property tax rate was 23.31 cents, or $34.96 for the owner of that $150,000 home.
Copies of the 2005 Port budget will be available Wednesday at Port headquarters, 330 W. First St., Port Angeles.
A public hearing on the Port’s final budget and property tax levy is set for 10 a.m. Monday in the meeting room at the Port headquarters.
The final 2005 budget will be adopted at the Port’s Nov. 22 meeting.
Revenue to increase
The Port expects its 2005 property tax revenue to total $1,112,809, compared with an estimated $1,080,175 in 2004.
The difference is due to the 1 percent increase in property tax collections allowed by Initiative 747 and new construction, Finance Director William James told Port commissioners at their Monday meeting.
