Port of Port Angeles executive director finalists to visit Clallam on June 28-29

PORT ANGELES — A list of 18 applicants for the Port’s executive director position should be narrowed to four to six people for interviews on June 28-29, the Port’s search consultant said Monday.

The finalists will also tour Port facilities and meet the public, according to Ed Rogan, senior consultant for Waldron & Co. of Seattle.

Rogan urged Port commissioners to set aside June 28 as time for a site tour for all candidates; three simultaneous meetings with the stakeholder, management and staff advisory committees; and an opportunity for the public to “meet and greet” the finalists.

The next day should be reserved for interviews with the Port commissioners, lasting about an hour each, he said.

Rating form

Rogan said he would produce an open-ended form so members of the three advisory committees can give the Port commissioners their impressions of the candidates.

Current Port Executive Director Clyde Boddy announced in January that he is retiring in September when his contract expires.

The Port hired consultant Waldron & Co. to conduct the search for Boddy’s replacement.

Rogan and the Port commissioners met in a closed-door session on May 24 to review 68 applications and winnow them to 18 for further research.

Rogan said he hoped to further narrow the field to four to six candidates at an executive session with the Port commissioners Monday afternoon.

That is the group which would be invited to visit on June 28-29.
