Port Ludlow native begins training at Surface Warfare Officers School in San Diego

SAN DIEGO — Port Ludlow native Ensign Aaron Smith has entered the Basic Division Officers Course at the Surface Warfare Officers School in San Diego.

Smith will spend nine weeks in classrooms and simulators studying maritime warfare, divisional officer fundamentals, engineering, leadership and damage control.

According to a press release, Smith will eventually be assigned as a sonar division officer and will be responsible for tracking undersea contacts.
