Port Ludlow motorcyclist killed on Highway 104

SHINE — A Port Ludlow man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car that had failed to yield on state Highway 104 west of the Hood Canal Bridge, the State Patrol said.

Edward C. Radley, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which occurred at Teal Lake Road at about 2:34 p.m. Friday, troopers said.

Radley was riding a 2005 Suzuki C50 westbound on the highway when he collided with a 2014 Audi A7 driven by Jon D. Mattoni, 80, of Port Ludlow, according to the State Patrol.

Mattoni, who was making a left from Teal Lake Road onto the highway, “failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front” of the motorcycle, troopers said in a collision memo.

The State Patrol said the motorcycle struck the car before the car struck a guardrail on the eastbound side of the highway.

Mattoni was not injured. The State Patrol said charges are pending.

“Impairment is not suspected,” said Trooper Mark Hodgson, State Patrol spokesman.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist.”

The eastbound lane was blocked with alternating traffic for three hours, 25 minutes, according to the State Patrol report.
