PORT HADLOCK — State and county law enforcement officers are investigating the cause of a Wednesday afternoon crash that left a pedestrian in critical condition at the regional trauma center in Seattle.
John Underwood, 23, suffered a broken leg and possible internal injuries when he was hit in the 200 block of Cedar Avenue by a truck driven by Michael J. Staley, 16, of Port Hadlock.
The incident happened about 2:20 p.m., according to a Washington State Patrol report.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies initially responded to the crash, but asked that the State Patrol lead the investigation shortly after arriving on the scene.
State Patrol Sgt. Ken Sgt. Ken Przygocki said the crash is being investigated as a possible assault, but said no arrests had been made early Wednesday evening.
