PORT ANGELES — More than 300 volunteers are needed this weekend to complete another phase of the Dream Playground.
Work will occur rain or shine today through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Volunteers will install curved sidewalks, colorful masonry structures to display handprint tiles, wooden benches and a permanent sponsors’ monument to complete an entrance north of the playground at Erickson Park on Race Street across from Civic Field.
Officials also hope to raise a 16-foot totem pole carved by Al Charles Jr. of the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe.
For safety reasons, the playground will be closed during the construction.
