PORT ANGELES — Businesses and governmental agencies may spend more than $2,000 per minute for international exposure on the Travel Channel program “Discover America.”
North Olympic Peninsula Visitor and Convention Bureau board members agreed Tuesday to help the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce pay for a seven-minute segment on the North Olympic Peninsula to air on the travel show.
“The price is right — it is too good to pass up,” bureau board member and Olympic National Park ranger Jon Preston said during the meeting. “It is a bargain.”
The segment would cost local agencies about $14,500 to produce the show, chamber Executive Director Russ Veenema said. Lodging for the production crew would cost extra.
But the area would reap $300,000 in media exposure, Veenema added.
